Once In a Blue Moon

blue-moon-gardenIf you didn’t know it already, today was a blue moon.  Not the beer, Blue Moon but an actual, real live blue moon.  A blue moon occurs when there are two full moons in the same month with the second full moon being a blue moon.  Billie Holliday sang about it and so did The Marcels in 1961 which is my favorite version by the way.  The Marcels’ version charted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 3 weeks and sold over a million copies.  In fact, blue moons are so rare that the next one does not occur until January 2018 and the last one was August 31, 2012.  So, it can be said that once in a blue moon is a really rare event.  So, it got me to thinking of rare events or things that happen once in a blue moon.

1) Meeting a long, lost friend or family member.

2) Being declared cancer free.

3) Running a perfect race.

4) Finding your element

5) Understanding life’s meaning

6) Finding your purpose

7) Perfectly fitting shoes

8) Finding your true love

9) A vacation or trip of a lifetime

10) Reading someone’s mind

11) Dancing in the rain

12) Perfect weather

13) Your favorite college football team winning the BCS National Championship (unless you’re an Alabama fan)

14) Witnessing a miracle

15) Viewing a shooting star in the night’s sky

16) Catching the perfect wave, dude.

17) Watching a water spout form

18) Cool buzz

19) Perfect timing

20) Right time, right place
